About Beatsmugglaz
Solo DJ and production team who are currently making waves in the East London scene with their ever inovative, crazy and amazing live DJ sets.
Appauled at the commercialism circle of certain genres, and the stereotypical phrasing of "band wagon jumping", Beatsmugglaz do not like to be pigeon-holed.
With most things being based around the "house mould" expect music from both sides of the house equator, from terrifying minimal to jackin house to indie rock, all mixed and mashed together as if it was made that way!
Being versatile to no ends is just one of the reasons Beatsmugglaz have managed to make a nice dent in the London clubbing and party scene. Being musically versatile though, is not worth a thing unless it can be backed up with pure technical wizardry while playing live, which is more than accomplished with live remixes, live re-edits, live mashups and bag of tunes the size of a small lorry!
The brains behind the FLIP* promotion, which was a residency at East London's Medicine Bar (now East Village) before the management changed hands. It then moved to a few other venues, the last being the back room of the Island, Charing Cross, before they got too busy with their other residencies. FLIP* will be back in 2009, under a new name, so sshhh...!
While the summer of 2008 has been the best year in their diary with events such as closing the Lifted dance tent at the Zoo Thousand music festival, with people unable to get into the tent it was that rockin', and massively popular and respected venues such as The House & Terrace, INC Lounge, Barfly (camden), Medicine Bar (East Village) and numerous other smaller bars and clubs around London.
Currently holding residencies for a variety of some of Londons biggest and best promotions in London. While set of residencies concentrate on the pure house side of things with some of Londons best soulful, progressive and electro DJ's, the other residencies allow Beatsmugglaz to play with the UK's best up and coming indie, electro, dnb and ska bands.
